Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
Auxo comes from foothill vineyards in Luni, Castelnuovo Magra and Sarzana. The Ligurian setting places the vines between the nearby sea and mountains. Low yields and maturation in large oak barrels shape the wine's aromatic intensity and identity.
Grapes
Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Ciliegiolo. The three varieties evoke the Tuscan winemaking tradition, and their presence in the Colli di Luni reflects the longstanding historical and social connections between the neighbouring territories.
Vinification
The wine remains on the skins for 10 days before racking.
Ageing
Maturation lasts 10 months in 20 hl oak barrels.
Technical data
Colli di Luni DOC Rosso. Alcohol: 13% vol.
Tasting profile
Auxo is medium-intensity ruby red. Its layered bouquet combines cherries in alcohol, strawberries and plums with sweet cocoa, pipe tobacco, violet petals and blood orange. The palate is soft and silky; acidity and savouriness give it energy. The finish is floral and spicy.
Label / history
The Latin name Auxo refers to growth and the vegetative development of plants and represented one of the four seasons. It is one of the cellar's historic red wines, whose established production approach has been maintained and refined over successive vintages.
