Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come entirely from Vigna Luna, an approximately three-hectare parcel on the Luni plain. The vines surround the archaeological remains of the ancient city of Luni and its Roman amphitheatre. The vineyard lies between the Ligurian Sea and the Apuan Alps, approximately 3 km from the sea and 15 km from the mountains. Loose, sandy soils and a warm, breezy climate shape the site.
Grapes
100% Ciliegiolo.
Vinification
A straightforward stainless-steel vinification preserves the variety’s fruit and freshness. Skin maceration lasts three days; after racking, fermentation continues in steel.
Ageing
Maturation takes place in stainless steel.
Technical data
Liguria di Levante I.G.T. Ciliegiolo. Alcohol: 12.5% vol.
Tasting profile
Medium-intensity ruby red. Clearly defined cherry, blueberry and raspberry aromas are joined by floral and balsamic notes, with black pepper completing the bouquet. Sweet, ripe and silky tannins give the palate a rounded feel. Acidity and savouriness balance the structure, leading to a juicy, medium-to-long finish.
Label / history
Conceived as Lunae’s red wine of the sea, Ciliegiolo connects the marble landscape of the Apuan Alps with the nearby Ligurian coast.
