Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
Circvs comes from vineyards on the Piana di Luni, only a few kilometres from the sea. Sandy soils and strong ventilation define the site and support the wine's fresh Mediterranean character.
Grapes
Massaretta, Alicante and Albarossa. Massaretta is an ancient indigenous variety, Alicante is well established along the Tyrrhenian coast, and Albarossa originated in the early twentieth century.
Vinification
The three varieties are brought together during vinification. The wine remains on the skins for 10 days before racking.
Ageing
Maturation lasts five months in stainless-steel vats, preserving freshness and immediate fruit expression.
Technical data
Liguria di Levante IGT Rosso. Alcohol: 12.5% vol.
Tasting profile
The colour is a medium-depth purple red. Intense aromas of geranium and red flowers develop toward cherry, wild strawberry and redcurrant, with black pepper and a light eucalyptus note. The palate is full, with grippy yet rounded tannins. The persistent finish returns delicately to the fruit.
Label / history
In Roman times, the circus was a circular place for meeting, socialising and celebration. Such a venue also existed in the ancient city of Luni, Portus Lunae. The wine takes its name from this setting and was conceived as a fresh, convivial red.
