Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are planted on medium-textured clay soils over an alluvial base with fragments of limestone. Yields are limited to 800 g of grapes per vine.
Vinification
The fruit is harvested in the first half of September and macerated for approximately 20 days.
Ageing
The wine matures for 14 months, initially in standard oak barrels, 75% new, and subsequently in small used barrels.
Tasting profile
The 2010 vintage combines pronounced intensity with charm and finesse. It has an elegant, well-defined structure and a distinctive aroma reflecting the character of Maremma.
Label / history
Messorio has been produced since 1994 and is made in strictly limited quantities.
