Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from Casa Vecchia and Madonnina, within the Le Macchiole estate in Bolgheri, about 5 km from the sea. Casa Vecchia has vines more than 30 years old; Madonnina was planted in 2002. The predominantly medium-textured clay soils have an alluvial base with limestone fragments.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in late August. After pressing and cold maceration, fermentation takes place in 225-litre barrels, divided equally between new barrels and barrels one year old.
Ageing
The wine matures for 10 months in the same 225-litre oak barrels, made by the Stephane Chassin cooperage.
Tasting profile
Rich and expressive, with clear varietal character and excellent balance.
Label / history
The first vintage was released in 1991.
