Label / history
The first vintage, made in 1989, was a Bordeaux-style blend. Since 2001, Paleo Rosso has been made exclusively from Cabernet Franc.
Founder Eugenio Campolmi named the wine after a wild herb that grows along the Tuscan coast. He and his wife, Cinzia Merli, founded Le Macchiole in 1983 after choosing winemaking over his family’s restaurant and retail businesses. The name Paleo became a symbol of identity and determination. Production is strictly limited.
