Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from old vines in the small "der Keil" vineyard, at 250 m above sea level. The vineyard has sandy clay soils rich in chalk deposits.
Vinification
Grapes unaffected by hail were selected at harvest. After pressing, fermentation took place with natural yeasts in open oak vats, followed by extended skin contact.
Ageing
The wine matured for five months in large oak barrels.
Vintage notes
The 2018 growing season was difficult, and the growers worked intensively to harvest grapes that had escaped hail damage.
