Vineyard and terroir
Amani comes from the massal selection of an old vineyard, more than 70 years of age and planted entirely by hand. The vineyards are located in Farra d’Isonzo and San Floriano. The hilly soils formed during the Eocene period and consist of alternating sandstone and marl derived from limestone and clay. Their impermeable character encourages surface runoff, limiting erosion and stagnant water. The vines are trained to Guyot.
Grapes
Friulano, one of Collio’s historic indigenous varieties; its presence in Friuli Venezia Giulia is documented from the 1600s.
Vinification
The hand-picked grapes are destemmed. The must and pulp receive a cold maceration before gentle pressing separates the juice from the skins. Fermentation proceeds in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine rests for approximately six months on its lees, followed by several months in bottle.
Technical data
Bottle format: 0.75 l. Alcohol is approximately 12.5% on the wine page and approximately 13.5% in the technical sheet. The wine page classifies Amani as Friuli DOC, while the technical sheet identifies it as Collio DOC.
Tasting profile
Straw yellow with bright green highlights. Almond blossom leads the aromatic profile, accompanied by hawthorn, chamomile and a vegetal nuance. The palate is smooth and rounded, with freshness, savoury character, balance and a long, pleasant finish.
Label / history
The name Amani evokes the wine’s long path from an ancient, entirely hand-planted vineyard.
