Vineyard and terroir
La Serra lies in the highest part of the municipality of La Morra and is classified as a Grand Cru vineyard. It has a southeast exposure and clay-limestone soils rich in magnesium. Its mild microclimate has no sharp changes in temperature and contributes finesse and a distinct mineral character. The vineyard is farmed organically, with extremely low yields and consequently limited production.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-autumn at optimal ripeness. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts takes place in stainless-steel tanks for 10–30 days, with regular bâtonnage. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months in oak barrels, followed by 8 months in stainless steel and a further 8 months in bottle before release.
Tasting profile
Complex, deeply layered and elegant, with finesse and a clear mineral character.
Label / history
The vineyard name “La Serra” translates as “greenhouse”, referring to its distinctive mild microclimate.
