Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from vineyards in Santa Rosalia, with the technical sheet identifying origins in Alba and Bartu in Diano d’Alba. The soils are calcareous. Rigorous selection and summer thinning reduce the crop to one bunch per shoot.

Grapes

100% Barbera.

Vinification

Harvest takes place from the middle to the end of September. Grapes are picked by hand into perforated 25 kg crates, selected again by hand on a vibrating table and softly pressed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks with automated daily pump-overs and punch-downs. Maceration lasts 8–10 days.

Ageing

The wine matures for 12–14 months in new 400-litre French oak tonneaux and receives at least 6 months of bottle maturation before release.

Technical data

Alcohol: 14.5–15%.

Tasting profile

Intense ruby red. The aroma is broad, combining spices, woodland berries and red fruit. The palate is dry, powerful and concentrated yet fresh, with Barbera’s acidity providing balance and carrying a long finish. Its rounded, juicy character is structured for extended ageing.

Serving and pairing

Pair with structured first courses and meat dishes. It can also be served after a meal.
