Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from younger vineyards on the cooler exposures of the small Cascina Nuova hill in La Morra, where the winery is based. These sites produce particularly juicy fruit and shape an exuberant, velvety and light Barbera intended to be enjoyed young and fresh. The vines were planted in the early 2000s and are trained using the Guyot system.

Grapes

100% Barbera.

Vinification

The grapes macerate on their skins for approximately 6–8 days in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. They are then pressed, and alcoholic fermentation is completed in stainless steel over a total period of about 20 days. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel.

Ageing

The wine remains in stainless steel for several months. It is bottled in the summer following the harvest without fining or filtration.

Tasting profile

Intense ruby red with violet reflections. The aroma is fresh and fruit-driven, led by youthful notes of red fruit, especially amarena cherry and plum. The palate is balanced, with the gently tart character typical of Barbera, clearly expressed minerality and a delicately savory finish. Its overall style is exuberant, velvety and light.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18°C. Its initial freshness can be appreciated first, followed by the evolution of its aromas as the wine slowly warms in the glass.

Ageing potential

Ideally enjoyed during the first years after release, although it can develop surprising nuances after further time. It is also available in magnum format.
