Vineyard and terroir

Michele Chiarlo owns 15 ha of the 45 ha Cerequio vineyard. Its parcel was planted in 1972 and has been cultivated by the winery since 1987. Regular pruning and thinning, together with minimal treatments, keep yields low. The grapes are carefully selected.

Vinification

The grapes ferment on their skins for 18–20 days in 55 hl casks, achieving full extraction of polyphenols and tannins.

Ageing

Maturation takes place in three stages: 12 months in 700-litre oak barrels, two years in large French Allier oak casks, and at least 24 months in bottle. The wine is bottled without filtration and reaches its peak after eight to nine years.

Label / history

Produced only in selected top vintages since 1988.
