Storia

The Mocali estate was acquired by Dino Ciacci in the 1950s. He was one of the twenty-five founders of the Brunello di Montalcino Consortium. Today the estate is managed by his grandson, Tiziano Ciacci.

Terroir

The estate lies southwest of Montalcino at an altitude of around 350 m, with panoramic views across the Montalcino valley. The vineyards are surrounded by Mediterranean woodland. Vineyard soils are rich in minerals, with layers of limestone. Among the tall pines are the remains of ancient kilns once used to make quicklime from stone.

The wine cellars are housed in traditional local stone buildings. Specially restored buildings provide spaces for presenting and tasting the wines. The small estate produces limited quantities, and 90% of the production is exported, mainly to Western and Eastern Europe, the USA, Canada, South America and Asia.
