Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown on the Monte Vibiano estate in the Colli Perugini area of Umbria and are picked by hand.
Grapes
Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon are blended with an ancient native red grape variety. Percentages are not specified.
Ageing
The wine rests for at least 24 months in French oak barriques, followed by a further 12 months in bottle.

The published 2015 vintage has 15% alcohol and is offered in a 750 ml bottle.
Tasting profile
Penetrating ruby red with distinct purple highlights. Ripe red fruit leads the bouquet, particularly blackberry and blackcurrant, followed by balsamic notes of liquorice and black pepper and an impression of fine chocolate. The wine is full-bodied, with elegant, integrated tannins and a long finish marked by Tahitian vanilla.
Serving and pairing
Pair with roasted or grilled red meats, game, blue cheeses or spicy cheeses.
Vintage notes
The 2015 vintage received Silver at the 2021 China World Wine Award and Bronze at the 2021 Decanter World Wine Awards. The 2016 vintage received Silver at the 2022 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
