Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from the Monte Vibiano estate in Umbria and are harvested by hand.

Grapes

Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are blended with an ancient native red grape variety. Percentages are not specified.

Ageing

The wine matures for 30 months in French oak barriques from Allier and Nevers, followed by another 30 months in bottle.

Technical data

The published 2015 vintage has 14.5% alcohol and is offered in a 750 ml bottle.

Tasting profile

Deep ruby red develops mature, brick-like nuances. The complex and continually evolving bouquet combines fine oak and vanilla with coffee, red fruit preserved in spirit and a pronounced balsamic accent. With air, velvety fine chocolate gives way to dark forest berries.

Serving and pairing

Pair with roast lamb or large game.

Vintage notes

The product release is the 2015 vintage. The 2010 vintage received 5 Grappoli from Fondazione Italiana Sommelier in 2020.
