Vineyard and terroir

Podere Frontino lies in the province of Chieti, an area devoted to red grapes for Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC. The Riserva comes from 6 ha of hillside vineyards spread across the sunny Bucchianico hills. The vines average 10 years of age and grow at approximately 280 m above sea level in medium calcareous clay soils. Significant temperature variations between day and night favor grape quality. The vines are Guyot-trained and managed for low, selected yields.

Grapes

100% Montepulciano.

Vinification

The bunches are picked by hand and softly pressed. Traditional red vinification takes place in stainless-steel tanks, followed by 30 days of maceration on the skins.

Ageing

The wine is matured for 18 months in small 5 hl oak barrels. It then continues to develop in stainless-steel tanks before bottling.
