Vineyard and terroir
This Brunello combines fruit from multiple estate parcels, bringing together differences in altitude, exposure and soil composition. The vineyards used for the 2020 release lie between 480 and 570 m. Their moderately deep, low-fertility soils contain 20–30% gravel and stones. Training systems are spurred cordon and Guyot.
The vineyards are farmed organically and sustainably. Green manure and cover crops are applied according to need to balance nutrients, improve soil porosity and reduce erosion. Pruning is adapted to vine age, soil, vigour and exposure. Copper, sulphur and natural antagonists are used against pathogens; natural manure and plant fortifiers support soil life and vine resilience.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese. Grapes for the 2020 release were hand-picked from 21 September to 8 October, with an average yield of 40 q/ha.
Vinification
Fermentation lasted 10 days in truncated-conical stainless-steel and concrete vats, with temperatures held at or below 25°C. A further 12 days of maceration followed, with gentle extraction adjusted to the character of the individual soil units.
Ageing
The wine matured for 30 months in 25- and 40-hl Slavonian oak barrels, followed by 7 months in natural concrete vats. The 2020 was bottled unfiltered in June 2024.
Technical data
Production of the 2020 vintage was 24,400 standard bottles, 800 magnums and 80 double magnums.
Tasting profile
The wine is defined by solidity, depth and integrity. Its style favours consistency over flamboyance, presenting the estate’s interpretation of Brunello with precision and restraint.
Vintage notes
The 2020 season followed a consistent climatic pattern, with well-timed rainfall supporting regular vine development. A cool summer encouraged gradual technological and phenolic maturation. Wide diurnal temperature shifts in September produced ripe, concentrated grapes. As one of the decade’s coolest growing seasons, it delivered a small crop of particularly high quality.
