Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

The Sangiovese comes from the estate’s oldest vineyards, situated between 150 and 450 m above sea level. Training systems are doppio capovolto and spur-pruned cordon.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation and maceration last 15–20 days under a submerged cap in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled 25–28 °C. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel.

Ageing

The wine undergoes long maturation in large 30 and 50 hl French oak casks, followed by bottle ageing.

Technical data

The 2021 vintage has 14.5% alcohol.

Tasting profile

Ruby red. The nose is very intense and persistent, with red-fruit notes. The palate is warm and balanced, with velvety tannins and a long aromatic persistence.

Serving and pairing

Pair with red meats, game and mature cheeses.

Vintage notes

Published reviews of the 2021 vintage describe a rich, sometimes creamy or plush expression with plum, blackberry, blackcurrant and black-cherry fruit, smoky and sweet spices, fine to firm dusty tannins, and a long finish that balances fruit and savoury elements.
