Storia

Present-day estate

Tenuta di Renieri occupies approximately 60 hectares in Castelnuovo Berardenga, with 22 hectares under vine. Its production is focused principally on Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva, supplemented by Chianti Classico Gran Selezione and Toscana IGT wines.

The property adjoins Castello di Bossi. Together with the neighboring Barbaione estate, the three holdings now form a single contiguous body within the Chianti Classico territory. Tenuta di Renieri nevertheless retains its own name, vineyard area and wine range within Bacci Wines.

Present dayTenuta di Renieri covers approximately 60 hectares, including 22 hectares of vineyards, and forms a contiguous body with neighboring Castello di Bossi and Barbaione.

Terroir

Tenuta di Renieri lies in the heart of the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, within the Chianti Classico territory, and borders Castello di Bossi.

Its vineyards face south. This orientation provides prolonged exposure to sunlight and supports even grape ripening, contributing to the intended balance between structure and freshness.

The soils vary across the property, moving between yellow clay and tuff. Beneath them lies a substantial component of rounded stones. These stones provide natural drainage, improving the movement and management of water in the root zone and supporting vine and bunch health.

Vinificazione

Organic cultivationThe estate’s wines are produced from organically farmed grapes.
Natural soil drainageRounded stones in the subsoil facilitate drainage and water management around the vines.
Oak maturationThe range employs oak vessels, including barriques for dry wines and traditional caratelli for sweet wine.

The vineyards are cultivated organically. The viticultural approach is closely tied to the estate’s south-facing position and varied soils, with the objective of achieving complete grape ripening while retaining a balance between structure and freshness.

Water movement is assisted naturally by the rounded stones in the subsoil. Their drainage function helps regulate water around the roots and contributes to vine and bunch health.

Production is centered on Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva, with additional Chianti Classico Gran Selezione and organic Toscana IGT red and sweet wines.

Oak maturation is used across the range. The estate works with barriques for its dry wines and traditional caratelli for its sweet wine. The latter vessel is used for the prolonged maturation of Principe di Renieri.

Filosofia

Tenuta di Renieri’s approach centers on the relationship between its Chianti Classico setting, southern exposure, heterogeneous soils and attentive vineyard management. The intended result is a faithful territorial expression in which structure is balanced by freshness.

Organic cultivation places this objective within Bacci Wines’ broader commitment to environmental respect and the preservation of its agricultural landscapes. Tradition remains central to the estate’s identity, while the range also accommodates contemporary interpretations through varietal and blended Toscana IGT wines.
