Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit came from Tommaso Canale’s plot in the Vigna Rionda cru at Serralunga d’Alba. Its soils were rich in white limestone marl and the parcel was planted with old vines.

Grapes

Nebbiolo.

Vinification

The grapes were harvested by hand in small crates at physiological maturity, determined through seed ripeness, and underwent two manual selections before vinification. Fermentation occurred exclusively in wooden vats with a pied de cuve of indigenous yeasts and continued for approximately ten days. Traditional submerged-cap maceration then lasted around 60–70 days.

Ageing

Approximately five years in neutral oak and concrete vats.

Technical data

Average production was approximately 8,000 bottles per vintage.

Vintage notes

The collaboration covered the 2003 through 2006 vintages.

Label / history

Roagna made the wine in collaboration with its friend Tommaso Canale, owner of the Vigna Rionda parcel. The collaboration ended in 2010 following Canale’s premature death.
