Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Campomaccione estate in Morellino di Scansano. Its 80 hectares of vineyards are planted at 6,000 vines per hectare on dry, hilly soils. A warm, dry climate supports ripening, while salty sea air gives the fruit a distinctive aroma that carries into the wine.
Grapes
Sangiovese is the leading component of the blend. The estate’s vineyards also include plantings of Syrah, although the description does not identify it as part of this wine.
Tasting profile
The wine presents a fresh, unusual expression of Sangiovese in Morellino di Scansano compared with its expression in Chianti Classico, with a distinctive aroma associated with the salty sea air.
Label / history
The wine takes its name from the Campomaccione estate, purchased by the Zingarelli family in 1998 together with its 80 hectares of vineyards.
