Ruggeri was founded in 1950 by Giustino Bisol, whose family had grown grapes in the Valdobbiadene region since 1542. His father, Luigi Bisol, built a winery in Montebelluna in 1920. Giustino later established Ruggeri to produce sparkling wines. In 1993, the winery moved to a new, larger building designed for ergonomic operation.
