Vineyard and terroir
Vincaia is the Sommelier’s Selection Nobile, sourced from 22.5 ha of the Salcheto estate at Montepulciano. Production is described as one bottle per vine.
Grapes
100% Prugnolo Gentile, the local Sangiovese selection.
Ageing
The wine matures for 18 months, with 70% in large Slavonian oak vats and 30% in French tonneaux, followed by at least six months in bottle.
Technical data
The 2021 wine has 14% alcohol, total acidity of 5.59 g/L, pH 3.49, residual sugar of 1.42 g/L, dry extract of 29.80 g/L, 3,653 mg/L phenols, color tonality of 0.88 and color intensity of 8.79. It is sealed with natural cork in a 370 g Salcheto Light Bordeaux bottle. Available formats are 375 ml, 750 ml, 1.5 L, 3 L, 5 L and 18 L.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18–20°C. Expected drinking life is 8–10 years.
