Vineyard and terroir

The Nebbiolo is grown on well-exposed hills in the municipality of Barbaresco, in the province of Cuneo. The vineyards lie below 550 metres above sea level on clay-and-limestone soils.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo, comprising the Lampia, Michet and Rosé subvarieties.

Vinification

Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are conducted with modern techniques under controlled-temperature conditions.

Ageing

The wine matures for 26 months, including nine months in Slavonian oak casks.

  • Yield: 8 tonnes of grapes per hectare, equivalent to 54 hectolitres of wine per hectare
  • Alcohol: 14% vol.
  • Serving temperature: 18–20°C

Tasting profile

Garnet red with orange highlights. The bouquet is intense and appealing, led by violet. The palate is generous yet fine, soft, elegant and velvety.

Serving and pairing

Decant before serving and give the wine extended time to breathe. Pair with feathered game, roast meats, or richly flavoured first courses such as pasta with ragù or game sauces.

Label / history

The wine takes its name from Barbaresco, a village near Alba on the banks of the Tanaro. Production is limited.
