Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Santedame Estate in Castellina in Chianti, at the heart of Chianti Classico. The high-hill vineyards lie at 350–470 m. Their gravel-rich soils range in texture from loamy clay to loamy sand.
Grapes
80% Sangiovese; the remaining 20% comprises Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and other complementary grape varieties.
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats for about 21 days, with pump-overs and délestage.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months in concrete tanks and barriques, including a final six months in barriques.
Tasting profile
Ruby red. The intense, complex bouquet combines violet, cherry, black pepper and tobacco. Plum and black-cherry flavours shape a well-proportioned palate with vibrant, juicy tannins and a long finish. Its overall style is fresh and fruit-led.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–18 °C. Pair with grilled meat and traditional Tuscan dishes.
