Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the estate’s youngest vines, cultivated at 280–320 m above sea level within the Val d’Orcia UNESCO World Heritage Site in the municipality of Montalcino. The vines are trained to low spurred cordon.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese Grosso. The wine was conceived as a fruit-focused expression of the variety in the Tuscan tradition.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested during the last week of September.
Ageing
Maturation in large Slavonian oak barrels softens the wine’s texture while preserving and enhancing the fruity and floral character associated with its place of origin. The wine is intended to continue developing in bottle.
Technical data
Orcia Sangiovese D.O.C.; 13.5% alcohol by volume. Production totals 22,000 bottles, presented in 0.75 L Bordeaux bottles.
Tasting profile
Intense ruby red. The nose is intense, persistent and fine, with floral and fruity aromas recalling redcurrant, red cherry and violets. The palate is dry, warm and soft, with moderate freshness and tannins, a savoury character, balanced body, intensity and a persistent, fine finish. Its appealing structure is paired with an easy-drinking character.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18 °C with Tuscan first courses, white or red meats, fish cacciucco, cured meats or medium-aged cheeses.
