Vineyard and terroir
Nebbiolo comes from a 0.64 ha parcel in the municipality of Verduno, at 300 m a.s.l. The vineyard faces south and south-west; its coordinates are 44.67536899589436, 7.947707109420031. The vines were planted in 1968 in loose, light-coloured soil rich in limestone, sand and microelements.
Vineyard work is designed to limit environmental impact. Chemical treatments are avoided in favour of practices such as mechanical weeding, and the vineyards hold SQNPI certification under Italy’s voluntary integrated-production quality system.
Grapes
Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The wine macerates on its skins for 24 days in French Allier oak vats, with two manual pump-overs each day. After alcoholic fermentation, it is racked into steel tanks, where it remains until malolactic fermentation is complete.
Ageing
Ageing takes place for 32 months in a 30 hL French Allier oak barrel. Following bottling, the wine rests for another 18 months before release.
Tasting profile
The colour is a rich, bright garnet red. The intense, elegant bouquet combines violet and rose with wild berries, orange peel, cocoa, tobacco and fine spices. The palate is full-bodied, with pleasant acidity creating a lean profile and clearly defined youthful tannins. Mineral freshness leads into a spicy, persistent finish.
Serving and pairing
Pair with braised meat or game. Cellaring potential exceeds 20 years.
