Vineyard and terroir
The vines were planted by the Curia of Gorizia in 1954 on a sunny, south-facing slope in Capriva del Friuli. The soils are Eocene marl, and yields are limited to 30 quintals.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand in early September. The must ferments in stainless-steel tanks at 16 °C for 12–14 days.
Ageing
The wine remains in the same stainless-steel tanks for nine months, followed by at least six months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Friulano provides an expressive character, while Riesling contributes refined minerality, complexity and depth.
Label / history
Known at the winery as “Il Mario,” the wine is dedicated to the company’s founder, Mario Schiopetto. It was first released in 2015 and is produced only in selected vintages and limited quantities.
