Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from estate vineyards on the south-eastern and south-western sides of Montalcino, at 250–400 m above sea level. The soils are sandy loam with clay and plentiful stone; the south-eastern sites are also described as containing limestone plates and abundant heavy stones. The vines are trained to spurred cordon.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.
Vinification
Temperature-controlled maceration and alcoholic fermentation take place in stainless-steel tanks at 28–29°C.
Ageing
Approximately 60% spends a few months in 500 L French oak tonneaux and 40% in 15–25 hL Slavonian oak barrels. A subsequent period of bottle ageing precedes release.
Technical data
The 2024 vintage has 14% alcohol. Available formats are 0.375 L, 0.75 L and 1.5 L.
Tasting profile
Intense ruby red with violet reflections. The aroma is fresh and fruit-driven, with cherry, plum and black-cherry notes. The palate is smooth and mineral, with good structure and well-balanced tannins.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18°C with cold cuts, pasta dishes or delicate meats.
