Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are carefully selected from the Campomaccione estate in Maremma. The estate vineyards lie between 30 and 131 metres above sea level, predominantly facing north and northwest. Quartz-rich sandstone soils have a sandy-loam texture and are generally sub-acidic. The vineyards were planted in 1999–2002 at a density of 6,000 vines per hectare, principally using the Cordon de Royat training system.
Dry, hilly ground and the warm climate aid full ripening, while maritime air contributes to the aromatic character carried into the wine.
Grapes
90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Vinification
Grapes harvested at optimal ripeness are carefully selected and vinified under temperature-controlled conditions. Full ripeness contributes softness while preserving the wine’s fruit character.
Ageing
Maturation takes place in stainless-steel and concrete tanks. Bottling follows in time for the wine to be ready in the spring after harvest.
Technical data
The English product page displays the 2024 vintage in a 0.75-litre format and gives 14% vol. alcohol. The Italian page gives 13% vol.
Tasting profile
Brilliant ruby red. The nose is clean and intense, with ripe red-fruit aromas. The palate is fresh, balanced and smooth, with good structure, full body and persistent ripe-fruit character.
