Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Tenuta Flaminio and Tenuta Castel Serranova. The Verdeca vineyard covers 2 hectares, with rows oriented north–south on limestone-clay soil. Vines are trained to spurred cordon and produce an average of 2 kg of grapes per plant.
Grapes
100% Verdeca. This nearly forgotten native variety has medium-thick skins with greenish reflections.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested manually during the third ten-day period of September. After destemming and crushing, they undergo soft pressing. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature in thermoregulated stainless-steel tanks and lasts 20 days. The finished wine is cold-stabilized and microfiltered.
Ageing
The wine matures on its fine lees for two months, followed by two months of bottle ageing.
Technical data
I.G.P. Salento. Alcohol: 12.5% vol.
Tasting profile
Bright straw yellow with pronounced, brilliant green reflections. The nose offers intense floral and fruit aromas. The palate is fresh, savoury and harmonious, with good persistence.
Serving and pairing
Designed to work as an aperitif or alongside fish, shellfish, molluscs and octopus. It can also accompany medium-aged cheeses; tuna and cuttlefish tartare is a more specific pairing suggestion.
Label / history
Flaminio interprets the Vallone family's native vineyards. The line takes its name from the historic Flaminio vineyards, planted over an ancient Messapian settlement near San Pietro Vernotico, and represents a tradition in continuing evolution.
