Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from selected vineyards in Mortegliano, Udine, in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The vines are trained to free spurred cordon on alluvial soils rich in skeleton, with north–south exposure. Integrated farming is used to limit environmental impact. The vineyards also have underground drip micro-irrigation.

Grapes

86% Glera and 14% Pinot Nero.

Vinification

After soft pressing, Glera is vinified as white wine with cold fermentation, while Pinot Nero undergoes red-wine vinification. The wines are blended before secondary fermentation in autoclave for about three months according to the Charmat method. Filtration and cold bottling follow.

Technical data

Alcohol: 11.5% vol. Total acidity: 5.9 g/L. Residual sugar: 11 g/L. Pressure: 4.5 atm. Presented in a 750 ml “Nouvelle Bianca” bottle, packed six per case.

Tasting profile

Elegant pale pink, with a very fine and persistent perlage. Fresh, fruity aromas evoke rose flowers and berries. The palate is balanced and savoury.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 8–9°C and drink young rather than ageing. Suitable as an aperitif and with fresh, light dishes, salads, vegetable risottos, fish and white meats. It can also accompany sushi and pizza.

Label / history

Tenute Arnaces grew from cooperation between Giuseppe Campagnola S.p.A. and Tenute Francesco Righetti, selecting grapes around Mortegliano for its Pinot Grigio and Prosecco wines.
