Vineyard and terroir

The wine comes from the Terrabianca estate in the Radda in Chianti production zone. The 2021 technical data place the vineyard at 410 m above sea level.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese, selected for Terrabianca’s historic Chianti Classico Riserva.

Vinification

Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks under controlled temperature. After fermentation, the wine remains in contact with the skins for 10–15 days.

Ageing

The wine matures for 12 months in large European oak barrels.

Technical data

The 2021 technical sheet gives an alcohol content of 14.5% vol. Available bottle sizes are 750 ml and 1.5 L; packaging consists of six-bottle cartons for the standard format and individual cartons for magnums.

Tasting profile

Brilliant ruby red. The bouquet combines violet, cherry and redcurrant with black tea, vanilla and white pepper. It is full-bodied, fresh and decisive on entry, with smooth tannins supported by lively acidity. The finish is intense and persistent, while the balance of tannin and acidity gives the wine freshness and longevity.

Serving and pairing

Pair with game and roasted meat.

Vintage notes

The 2021 season began with budbreak at the customary time, followed by exceptionally cold days and occasional sub-zero temperatures that damaged vines in valley-floor sites and the earliest-ripening varieties. Spring and summer proceeded regularly without pronounced heat spikes. Despite limited rainfall, the low crop load allowed the vines to avoid critical water stress. Gradual ripening produced grapes with strong technological and phenolic maturity.
