Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Bottinello vineyard, a 26.7 ha site planted at 350 m above sea level. The soils are volcanic with limestone deposits, and the planting density is 6,500 vines per hectare.
Vinification
Fermentation lasts 10 days in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels.
Label / history
Tommasi acquired the Poggio al Tufo winery in 1997. At the time, the property comprised 66 ha of vineyards in Pitigliano, Grosseto, in Tuscany.
