Vineyard and terroir

The grapes are grown on the Bocca di Lupo estate in the heart of Puglia's Murgia, on stony limestone soils that give the wine its minerality and depth. The wine is organic.

Grapes

Chardonnay is fermented partly in oak and partly in steel, while Fiano is vinified entirely in stainless steel.

Vinification

After harvest the grapes are gently pressed and cold-settled. Part of the Chardonnay ferments in French oak barriques, where it also undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages on the lees. The Fiano and the remaining Chardonnay are vinified in stainless steel tanks at a controlled 16–18 °C to preserve freshness and varietal character.

Ageing

After blending, the wine matures further in bottle before release.

Tasting profile

The nose combines white fruit, orange blossom, citrus peel and Mediterranean herbs, with subtle notes of vanilla. The palate balances freshness and structure, with a pronounced saline minerality. The texture is refined. The wine combines the elegance of Chardonnay with the character of Fiano.

Serving and pairing

The text presents it as a wine that works well with food, and suggests a long dinner on a warm evening. It names no specific dishes.

Label / history

The name Murgia comes from a word for a sharp stone or rock, and is associated with the dry-stone walls found across the countryside. "Pietrabianca" refers to the stones that local farmers strike while ploughing their fields. Once broken down, the stones are pressed into the soil, which helps improve the flavour of the grapes grown there.
