Vineyard and terroir
Giusto di Notri is associated with the estate's first vineyard, planted at Notri. The production area is Alta Maremma in the Colline Metallifere. Planting density is 8,500 vines per hectare; the vines are spur-pruned cordon-trained and managed through integrated pest management. The clay soils have a medium-high proportion of stones and are rich in minerals and pink marble, a basic rock present in the estate's soils.
Grapes
80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand into 15 kg crates during the second and third weeks of September. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel for 10 days, followed by 25 days of post-fermentation maceration.
Ageing
Approximately 18 months in first- and second-use French oak barriques. The wine is bottled in summer and rests for several months before release.
Technical data
Average production is 35,000 bottles.
Tasting profile
Deep ruby in the glass. The broad, complex nose offers ripe woodland berries, elegant spice and balsamic notes recalling Mediterranean scrub, enriched by toasted nuances. The palate has substantial structure and complexity, with an elegant tannic texture. Mineral notes on the finish give persistent freshness.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 15–18°C with first courses dressed with meat or mushroom sauces, game, roasts or aged cheeses.
Label / history
The name pays tribute both to the church of San Giusto in Suvereto and to the estate's first vineyard at Notri. First made in 1992, this Cabernet-based wine has accompanied Tua Rita since its beginnings. Its evolution reflects changing vintages, growing vines and changing techniques, with elegance as the consistent objective.
