Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from a preselection of Tua Rita's younger vineyards in Alta Maremma, within the Metalliferous Hills. The soils are clay-rich with a medium-to-high proportion of stones and contain abundant minerals and pink marble, a basic rock occurring in the estate's soils.

Planting density ranges from 6,000 to 9,000 vines per hectare. The vines are trained using spurred cordon and Guyot systems and managed under integrated pest-management principles. Harvest takes place by hand into 15 kg crates during the second and third weeks of September.

Grapes

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc.

Vinification

The wine receives a short maceration of approximately one week in cement.

Ageing

Maturation takes place in cement.

Technical data

Toscana Rosso IGT. Average production is 150,000 bottles.

Tasting profile

Ruby red with purple highlights. The aromatic profile combines ripe red fruit, wild herbs and flowers with graphite notes. The palate is full-bodied, supported by structured tannins, good acidity and striking freshness.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 15–18 °C. Suggested pairings include cured-meat and cheese boards, pici with cacio e pepe, and meat main courses.

Label / history

First produced in 2000, Rosso dei Notri is the entry point to the Tua Rita range and is intended to express the character of the Metalliferous Hills through fruit selected from the estate's younger vineyards.
