Vineyard and terroir
Sese is produced on the island of Pantelleria, where Tua Rita acquired vineyards in 2016. The vines are trained using the traditional alberello system on volcanic soils and managed through integrated pest-management practices. The wine reflects Pantelleria’s intense sun, winds, sea and distinctive aromas.
Grapes
100% Zibibbo.
Vinification
The grapes are picked by hand into 15 kg crates during the second half of August. Following harvest, they are laid on mats and dried for 10 days. The dried grapes are then pressed, and the must undergoes a slow fermentation at a controlled temperature until fermentation stops naturally.
Ageing
Matured for 12 months in stainless steel.
Technical data
Average production is 2,000 bottles. Sese is classified as DOP – Protected Designation of Origin.
Tasting profile
Amber yellow with golden highlights. The bouquet recalls apricot jam, caramelized peaches, orange peel and honey. On the palate, sweetness is balanced by lively acidity, producing an even, harmonious profile with comparatively restrained sweetness.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 15–18°C. Pair with cheeses or desserts.
Label / history
First produced in 2016, Sese grew from Tua Rita’s encounter with Pantelleria and its landscape. The passito expresses the estate’s affection for the island and the influence of its sun, wind, sea and aromatic environment.
