Vineyard and terroir
The Moscato Rosa vineyards lie in Prepotto, in the province of Udine, at 160 m above sea level. They face southeast and are planted on marl with balanced proportions of clay and organic matter. The vines are trained to the short Sylvoz system.
Grapes
100% Moscato Rosa, a variety of ancient origin.
Vinification
Harvest takes place in two stages. One portion is picked around mid-September and left to dry for several months in a fruit-drying room, while the other is late-harvested. The dried portion is destemmed and gently pressed, with maceration lasting two to three days. In both cases, the must undergoes cold static clarification and settling before fermentation with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature of 16–18 °C.
Ageing
The wine remains on its fine lees in stainless steel until spring.
Tasting profile
Light ruby red in colour, with an intense scent of roses, fruit and the variety’s characteristic aromatic signature. The palate is pleasingly sweet without becoming excessively sugary. Its flavours and aromas are balanced and persistent.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 6–8 °C. Pair with dry pastries or mixed fresh-fruit dishes, or enjoy it on its own.
