Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from estate vineyards situated on the southern and western sides of Montalcino at elevations of 250–450 m. The soils combine limestone, clay, sand and silt. Vines are trained to a spurred-cordon system, with an average planting density of 5,500 vines per hectare.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and selected before pressing. Maceration and fermentation take place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks for 20–25 days at 26–28°C.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months, with 60% aged in 225 L French oak barriques and 40% in 10–30 hL oak casks. This is followed by at least 24 months in bottle.
