Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from estate vineyards on the southern and western sides of Montalcino at 250–450 m above sea level. The soils combine limestone, clay, sand and silt. The vines are trained to a spurred-cordon system, with an average planting density of 5,500 vines per hectare.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and selected before pressing. Maceration and fermentation take place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks for 20–25 days at 26–28°C.
Ageing
The wine matures for six months, with 60% in 225 L French oak barriques and 40% in 10–30 hL oak casks. Bottle ageing lasts at least 12 months.
