Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the Abruzzo Region, among the hills around Bolognano. The vineyards have medium-textured clay soils and use pergola (marquee) and espalier training systems. Harvest is normally medium-late.

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.
Vinification
The grapes are gently pressed, followed by submerged-cap maceration and temperature-controlled fermentation. The wine is racked once predetermined optimal parameters have been achieved.
Ageing
Maturation takes place in steel tanks, followed by further ageing in bottle. Durations are not specified.
Technical data
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC. Alcohol: 13% vol, with possible variation between vintages. Available format: 0.75 L. Recommended glass: balloon.
Tasting profile
Purple red of medium intensity and fine consistency, enlivened by violet reflections. Aromas of wild red berries are framed by spicy white-pepper nuances. The palate is vibrant, medium-bodied and notably approachable.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 14–16°C. Pair with traditional pasta and other first courses dressed with vegetable- or meat-based sauces.
Label / history
A wine conceived as an expression of the historic area associated with the Abbey of San Clemente a Casauria. The Terre dell’Abate line recalls the abbey lands and their history of abbots, emperors and saints.
