Profile
Montosoli is a 5 ha vineyard north-east of Montalcino, with vines at 320 m a.s.l. in the PDF and 275-300 m in the vineyard page. The soils are described as marly limestone and siliceous limestone of the Alberese era, with lithoid components; the vineyard table gives galestro. The cru was vinified and aged separately for the first time after the 1975 harvest. The wine is ruby red tending to garnet with age, with floral and blackberry notes, pink pepper, balsamic hints, violet, licorice and vanilla. The palate is dry, warm, delicate, velvety and rich, with noble tannic texture and a long finish. Traditional fermentation. Minimum 2 years in oak and minimum 4 months in bottle. Alcohol 13.00-14.50%. Ageing capability 20-30 years and more. Serving temperature 18-20°C. Pairings include red and roasted meats, noble game and aged cheese.
