About this wine
Created in 1985 by agronomist Renzo Cotarella, described as one of the first Italian wines to undergo malolactic fermentation and barrique aging. Grapes are hand-harvested in the early morning and moved by gravity flow; must macerates on skins at 10°C for about four hours before decantation and clarification, then ferments in barriques with partial malolactic fermentation; the Chardonnay component moves to stainless steel in February to blend with the separately fermented, unoaked Grechetto, partly aging in the estate's 16th-century cellar beneath its medieval fortress. The 2024 vintage is clear straw yellow with light green hues, citrus, pink grapefruit, elderflower and chamomile aromas, vanilla and pastry cream notes with a hint of flint, and a palate of toasted almonds, white pepper and ginger with savory freshness.
