About this wine

First produced in 1928, created by Niccolò Antinori to promote the family name; named after Villa del Cigliano, owned by the family since 1546. The 2023 vintage fermented in stainless steel at a controlled 28-30°C with 10-14 days of maceration, completing malolactic fermentation in stainless steel for Sangiovese and in second/third-fill barriques for complementary varieties, then aged predominantly in large-format oak with part in barriques until the end of spring 2025. It is ruby red with marasca cherry, candied orange, vanilla and icing sugar notes, floral rose petal and mallow hints, licorice, cedarwood and caramel spice, and a rich, silky-tannined, energetic finish with boisée character. Selected as Official Wine Supplier for the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome.
