About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the Battistina estate, which covers 25 ha, including 5 ha in the municipality of Gavi di Gavi. The south-facing vineyards have well-drained soils composed mainly of marl and clay, an unusual combination for the region. The vines average 35 years of age and are planted at 4,000–4,500 vines per hectare. This density creates competition among the vines, allowing only the healthiest bunches to ripen.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and pressed pneumatically. The must ferments at a controlled temperature in 3,000-hectolitre stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine rests on its lees for three months before filtration and bottling.
Tasting profile
Delicate fruit and mineral notes appear on both the nose and palate.
Serving and pairing
Suitable as an aperitif and with seafood, appetisers, and light fish or meat dishes.
Label / history
Araldica Castelvero acquired the Battistina estate in 2002.
