About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from vineyards on the hills and foothills around Cengia, in the heart of Valpolicella. The estate has just over 8 hectares of hillside vineyards in this area, where favourable weather conditions contribute to an aromatic, balanced and rich style with a clear expression of the terroir.
Grapes
The estate’s principal plantings include Corvinone alongside Corvina and Rondinella, with additional native varieties.
Vinification
After harvest, the grapes are dried during September and October. Several months later they are sorted again, then kept in the attic until January. All winemaking and ageing take place at the winery in Cengia.
Ageing
The wine matures for three years in 20-hectolitre oak barrels and tonneaux, followed by at least six months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Aromatic, balanced and rich, with a clear expression of its terroir.
Label / history
The Begali family estate is near Pedemonte, beside the hills of Castelrotto in Valpolicella. Its history dates to the beginning of the 20th century, and its winemaking traditions have passed through successive generations. The estate began making wine at the end of the Second World War and started selling its wines in the 1980s. It is now run by Lorenzo Begali’s children, Giordano and Tiliana.
