About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The estate's 37 ha of vineyards lie in the historic Chianti area, in the municipality of Castellina-in-Chianti. The plots stretch across hillsides at 270–310 m above sea level, surrounded by olive groves, with south-west and north-east exposures and a microclimate the text calls ideal. The soils are a mix of light blue Pliocene clay, deep Alberese shale clay and limestone. The Sangiovese is grown organically and comes from all of the estate's vineyards.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested and selected carefully by hand, then fermented in stainless steel tanks for 16 days.
Ageing
The wine was aged for 12 months in cement vats.
Tasting profile
Approachable, with bright fruit and plenty of the fresh character typical of Sangiovese.
Serving and pairing
A classic Tuscan choice for pizza or pasta.
Vintage notes
2021: February was harsh, with several snowy days. Spring was warm and rainy. Summer was hot but windy, with cooling rainfall. September and October were clear and dry, which favoured ripening. Harvest began in the first half of September.
