History
Bolsignano is a small family-run estate on the hillside of Montalcino. The official site identifies Roberto Rubegni as the proprietor and states that he has been the sole owner since 2010.
The estate is deliberately limited in scale and concentrates on two wines: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and Rosso di Montalcino DOC. The published annual production is approximately 5,000 bottles of Brunello and 4,000 bottles of Rosso.
Part of the property is also planted with olive trees, from which the estate produces extra-virgin olive oil.
Terroir
The winery is located on the side of Montalcino at approximately 300 metres above sea level.
The official site describes the soil as tufaceous marl. It also emphasizes the estate’s distinctive local climate and identifies the combination of altitude, soil and climate as particularly suitable for wines with long aging potential.
Winemaking
The estate states that it uses organic treatments in the vineyard.
The site does not publish a formal certification body, certification year, detailed soil-management programme, cover-crop system, pruning regime, yield per hectare or biodiversity plan.
The official estate material describes fermentation in stainless-steel vats for approximately 20 days.
Brunello di Montalcino is matured for approximately 36 months in oak barrels of different capacities and then receives at least four additional months of bottle aging before release.

Philosophy
Bolsignano presents itself as a deliberately small estate focused on the intrinsic quality of Sangiovese and on the relationship between the Montalcino site, tufaceous marl and the capacity of the wines to age.
Its small annual volume and use of organic vineyard treatments reflect an approach based on direct ownership and limited production rather than expansion of the range.
