About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from estate-owned vineyards on the hills around San Gimignano.
Grapes
Predominantly Tuscan Sangiovese, supplemented by other red grape varieties.
Vinification
Traditional fermentation is accompanied by frequent pump-overs. The wine spends a brief period in stainless-steel vats and then passes into French oak barrels for 3–4 months before bottling.
Ageing
Bottle maturation follows the cellar ageing. The wine can continue developing for more than five years from the harvest.
Technical data
Minimum alcohol: 13%.
Tasting profile
Deep, intense ruby red. Wild blackberry is the defining aroma. The palate is warm, intense, dry and velvety. Decanting helps reveal its Tuscan Sangiovese character.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18 °C in a broad red-wine glass. Pair with Tuscan appetisers, pasta, roasted or grilled meats, pizza and focaccia.
